Hot weather
Dogs can overheat quickly, especially older dogs, flat-faced breeds and those with thick coats. On hot days, walks may be moved to cooler hours, shortened, or replaced with a 15–20-minute home visit if conditions are unsafe.
Dog safety & weather policy
British weather keeps us on our toes. Most days are perfect for a walk — but on the hottest, iciest or snowiest days, a normal walk isn't always the kindest choice. Here's how we keep your dog safe, and how we'll always keep you in the loop.

Dogs can overheat quickly, especially older dogs, flat-faced breeds and those with thick coats. On hot days, walks may be moved to cooler hours, shortened, or replaced with a 15–20-minute home visit if conditions are unsafe.

Walks are assessed according to the conditions on the day. Ice, compacted snow and gritted paths can be risky for paws and legs alike. If a walk would be unsafe, it may be replaced with a short home visit instead.
When it isn't safe to walk, we can visit your dog at home instead. It's always agreed with you in advance — never swapped without asking.
How we decide
If we think a walk needs to change, we'll get in touch first to agree what's best for your dog.
On every walk
If Howfen Solo Paws cannot provide your booked walk or an agreed alternative, no charge applies, or your payment will be refunded. You'll never pay for a walk we couldn't provide.

Your dog's own walk
